WHO i am

My name is Rogerio Vargens, 50 years old, I am an engineer and economist from a family that pioneered cocoa cultivation in the south of Bahia.

I started helping my father manage cocoa farms when I was 14 years old.

We have overcome many crises, including a plague called “witches’ broom”.

We turned things around and renewed the plantations with resistant and productive cocoa trees.

Today I manage 3 cocoa farms in Camacã, Bahia, Brazil.

I wrote a book telling my story

  • The farm has complete infrastructure, with pasture for mules, barge, troughs, workers’ house and main house for you to stay when you go to the farm.
  • Located on the side of the BR 101 highway, 110 km from Ilhéus airport and 200 km from Porto Seguro airport. Nearest beach: 80 km

  • Current production of 4200 kg/year on 24 hectares (350 kg/year for each 2-hectare plot on average)

2. Cocoa farm in Urucuça, Bahia, Brazil

  • Top quality terroir for cocoa in native agroforestry.
  • Headquarters with complete infrastructure, with pasture for mules, barge, troughs, workers’ house and historic main house for you to stay when you visit the farm.
  • Located 2 km from the BR 101 highway, 44 km from Ilhéus and 400 km from Salvador. Nearest beach: 44 km
  • Abundant energy and water to irrigate cocoa.
  • Current production of 4500 kg/year on 30 hectares (300 kg/year for each 2-hectare plot on average)
